Individual coverage, without going it alone.
Not every situation calls for a group plan. For individuals, sole proprietors, and employees who need their own coverage, OCIA operates a guided online portal — backed by a licensed Ohio team you can actually reach.
How buying through the portal works
1. Shop
Open our online portal, enter your household basics, and see marketplace plans side by side — including any premium subsidies you qualify for, calculated automatically.
2. Compare
Filter by your doctors, medications, and budget. The portal shows real premiums and out-of-pocket costs, in plain English.
3. Enroll
Complete enrollment online in one sitting. Because you came through OCIA’s portal, our licensed team is attached to your enrollment and available when questions come up.
Good to know
When does individual coverage make sense?
Between jobs, self-employed without employees, early retirement before Medicare, or when a family member needs coverage a group plan doesn’t fit. It’s also the path the portal serves for one-person businesses that don’t qualify for a group plan.
Is there a cost to use the portal?
No. You pay the insurance company’s premium — the same premium as anywhere else. Coming through our portal simply attaches a licensed Ohio team to your enrollment.
When can I enroll?
During the annual open enrollment period, or year-round if a qualifying life event (losing coverage, moving, marriage, a new child) opens a special enrollment window.
What if a group plan might fit after all?
Talk to us first — for some one-person and two-person businesses, group options exist that individuals rarely hear about. We’ll point you the right way.
Not sure whether you need individual or group?
That's a five-minute conversation. Reach out and we'll point you the right way — even if the answer isn't us.
