A full-service benefits agency — for real this time.

Strategy, market quoting, placement, administration, and year-round support across every line of employee benefits. One Ohio team, accountable for all of it.

How we work

No mystery, no pressure. Four steps, and you'll know where you stand after the second one.

1. Talk

A conversation about your business, your people, and what your current program costs you — in money and in headaches.

2. Audit & quote

We audit your benefits program and quote the full market: carriers, funding approaches, and the Chamber program where it fits. You see the real comparison.

3. Implement

We handle carrier paperwork, enrollment, and employee communication — and set up the administrative pieces so they work from day one.

4. Serve, all year

Direct lines to a named account team, claims advocacy when something goes sideways, invoice auditing, and a renewal strategy that starts early — not two weeks before the deadline.

We work for you, not a carrier. Our advice draws on the full market — and because OCIA is owned by the Ohio Chamber of Commerce, no acquisition will ever change who answers your call. That's our story →

Get to know the OCIA

Who is the OCIA?

The Ohio Chamber Insurance Agency is a full-service employee benefits agency owned and operated by the Ohio Chamber of Commerce. We are a named, six-person team headquartered in downtown Columbus, serving employers across all of Ohio — with a dedicated focus on businesses of 1 to 500 employees.

Why was the OCIA created?

To fill a service gap. As national brokerages and private-equity buyers acquired Ohio’s local agencies — and retiring agents sold their books — small employers were left with call centers where their advisors used to be. The Ohio Chamber created OCIA to restore what was disappearing: unbiased consulting and dedicated, personal service for Ohio employers.

What differentiates OCIA for Ohio’s employers?

A dedicated small-employer focus, and a traditional service-agency model that is rapidly vanishing through acquisition and local agent retirement. You get a named account team with direct lines, full-market quoting rather than one program, and an owner — the Ohio Chamber — that structurally cannot sell the agency out from under you.

What is OCIA’s affiliation with the Ohio Chamber of Commerce?

The Ohio Chamber owns and operates the agency — 100%. OCIA was created to fill the service need in the market and to be an asset to Ohio’s small employers. Think of the agency as the front door to the Chamber for small business: we support Ohio’s small employers directly, and we connect them to Chamber membership and everything that comes with it.

What products does the OCIA help clients with?

The full employee benefits market: group medical across every funding path (fully insured, level funded, self-funded, the Ohio Chamber Health Benefit Program MEWA, ICHRA and QSEHRA), dental, vision, life, disability, worksite products, telemedicine, and gap plans — plus HSA/FSA/COBRA administration, HR and compliance support, workers’ compensation group rating through the Chamber’s Sedgwick-administered program, individual coverage through our online portal, and property & casualty through our trusted partner.

Who are OCIA’s strategic partners?

OCIA maintains strategic partnerships with leading carriers — including Medical Mutual, Ohio’s Hometown Health Insurer, which administers the Ohio Chamber Health Benefit Program beginning January 1, 2027 — and partners across dental, ancillary, and financial protection lines. Meet them on our strategic partners page.

Does OCIA offer technology to small employers?

Yes. For many clients we set up online benefits administration technology — enrollment, employee changes, and carrier connections in one place instead of paper and email chains. We also operate an online portal for individual coverage. We fit the technology to the group; we will tell you honestly whether your size and situation warrant it.

How do we get started?

Schedule a consultation or request a benefits program audit. You get an immediate confirmation, a real person responds within two business days, and the audit shows you the full market next to what you have today.

Let's look at your benefits program together.

A consultation costs nothing. A benefits program audit — including quoting the market — tells you exactly where you stand before your next renewal.
